Officers confiscated over 16,000 dangerous F2 and F3 category devices, which include explosive fireworks mortars often turned against law enforcement. According to official customs statements, these items pose severe safety risks when used in public spaces.
Mortar fireworks require approved licensing for purchase, and public use remains strictly illegal. Parliament recently passed the "Ripost" bill to impose harsher penalties on unauthorized pyrotechnic possession.
Based on official records, illegal fireworks seizures have skyrocketed. Authorities intercepted nearly 190,000 devices in 2025 compared to under 38,000 in 2024.
