Besiktas has officially hit the brakes on its pursuit of Mohamed Salah. According to club sporting director Onder Ozen, negotiations have come to a standstill due to excessive financial demands from the player's camp.

The Turkish club admitted to presenting a formal proposal to the winger following Egypt's campaign at the World Cup. However, additional financial stipulations regarding image rights threw a wrench into the ongoing discussions.
According to Ozen, speaking at a press conference on Monday, "We presented an offer to Salah, but his representatives made additional financial demands that significantly complicated the deal." He further noted, "I assume that a respected player like Mohamed Salah was unaware of these details."
Besiktas leadership has drawn a hard line regarding the club's financial ceiling. Ozen emphasized that preserving the institution's fiscal strategy takes precedence over any marquee signing, confirming that no revised bid will be submitted.
Meanwhile, the Turkish side is also keeping tabs on another high-profile free agent in Dusan Vlahovic. Although the former Juventus striker reportedly favors a move to one of Europe's top five leagues, Besiktas remains hopeful for a potential reunion with coach Vincenzo Italiano.
