Robert Lewandowski has praised his former Barcelona teammates following Spain's FIFA World Cup triumph over Argentina, expressing immense pride in their achievement.

The Polish striker spoke after making his MLS debut for Chicago Fire on Wednesday. A total of eight Barcelona players featured in the victorious Spanish squad, including standout stars Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Ferran Torres.

"Many of my teammates at Barcelona have won the World Cup, and I'm very happy for them," Lewandowski said, according to quotes published by Mundo Deportivo.

The veteran forward marvelled at the rapid rise of the club's emerging talents. "They're very young players. Just a few weeks ago I was playing alongside them, and now I can see them as world champions. Congratulations to all of them."

Ferran Torres scored the decisive winning goal in the final against Argentina, while Pau Cubarsi earned the tournament's Best Young Player award. Pedri, Dani Olmo, Eric Garcia, Gavi, and Joan Garcia also formed part of the historic squad.

Lewandowski departed Barcelona earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract. The striker joined Chicago Fire as a free agent, though his inaugural MLS appearance ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat against Inter Miami.

Based on reports from sports media outlets, the former European Golden Shoe winner remains deeply attached to his former colleagues despite entering the final chapter of his career in the United States.
