Nicolo Zaniolo signed a new long-term contract extension with Udinese on Wednesday, putting an end to a tense week-long salary dispute.

The Italy international made headlines after abandoning pre-season training for over a week in protest over his wages. According to Sky Sport Italia, both parties resolved the final details this afternoon to seal the agreement.

The new deal binds the forward to Udinese until June 2029, while the Friulian club holds an option to extend the contract for an additional year.

Zaniolo joined Udinese from Galatasaray on transfer deadline day last summer, initially on loan with an option to buy. Due to the rushed nature of the deadline-day transfer, both sides agreed to renegotiate personal terms after the campaign concluded.

Negotiations stalled when both parties failed to agree on financial terms, prompting the player's walk-out. His original agreement included a clause guaranteeing Galatasaray a 50 per cent cut of any future transfer fee.

Based on reports, the revised contract is worth €2m per season. The club restructured the salary package to divide the guaranteed wage from performance-related add-ons.

Zaniolo made a solid impact during his debut campaign in Udine. He recorded six goals and six assists across 34 competitive appearances for the Serie A side.
