Chelsea acted swiftly, with new manager Xabi Alonso personally calling Rogers on Friday to outline his tactical vision and secure the player's commitment.
"I am so excited," Rogers said in his first official club interview. "For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I have always admired since I was a kid."
According to sources, close friend Cole Palmer and Chelsea sporting director Joe Shields—who both knew Rogers from his time in Manchester City's academy—played influential roles in guiding the transfer.
Regarding his discussions with Alonso, Rogers noted: "It very much fits with the way I see the game and the way I want to play. Him being a part of that was massive in my decision to be here."
Based on club details, Rogers represents Chelsea's sixth summer signing as Alonso prepares for his opening pre-season fixtures in west London.
