Olympique de Marseille may soon cash in on one of their marquee assets as financial pressures mount at the club. According to Le Phocéen, German side Bayer Leverkusen has registered serious interest in Argentine defender Facundo Medina.

Discussions are reportedly underway between the two clubs. Based on club requirements, Marseille wants to recoup at least the 20 million euros they originally spent to acquire Medina from Lens, hoping for an even higher fee if a bidding war ensues.

Medina initially arrived on loan before completing a permanent transfer this summer. Having featured as a left-back for Argentina during the World Cup, the former Lens player could now provide a much-needed financial windfall by departing almost immediately.

Club officials would welcome a higher valuation. Sources suggest that if incoming offers reach 25 or 30 million euros, celebrations will quickly follow on the banks of the Vieux Port.
