"Firefighter friends told us they needed help, that they never had enough water," Ducasse said. "Like us, hundreds of civilians came with water tanks on the back of pick-ups or trucks to resupply them and save time, allowing them to stay closer to the fire."
Based on reports from the region, the former player was deeply moved by the overwhelming wave of community solidarity. He highlighted the dedication of his own father, who despite being evacuated, returned to serve hundreds of meals to exhausted emergency crews fighting the blazes around the clock.
