Roma have officially announced the blockbuster signing of centre-forward Santiago Castro on a permanent transfer from Bologna, marking their statement of intent for the upcoming campaign.

As part of the structural agreement, Bologna has secured a 10 percent future sell-on clause, while Roma striker Artem Dovbyk is expected to head in the opposite direction on an initial loan with a 17 million euro option to buy.
The talented young forward has committed to a five-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico running until the summer of 2031, confirming that he will wear the iconic number nine jersey in the Italian capital.
Based on his impressive track record, Castro recorded eight goals and five assists during the 2024-25 Serie A season before adding another seven goals and three assists across 35 league appearances in 2025-26.
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini will now integrate the new signing into the squad where he is expected to battle fiercely with Donyell Malen for the primary center-forward starting role.
An official club statement read, "The forward, born in 2004, has worn the shirts of Bologna and Vélez Sarsfield, playing 105 games and scoring 22 goals for the Rossoblù before choosing the jersey number nine."
